When the binder is operating in the field, first, the cutting device cuts the crops near the roots. Then, the conveying device transports the cut crops to the binding device. The binding device compresses the crops into bales, and at the same time, winds the binding ropes (usually hemp ropes or plastic ropes) around the bales and ties them tightly. Finally, the bundled crops are placed in the field, waiting for subsequent collection and transportation.
Cutting Device: Usually, a reciprocating cutter is adopted. It consists of a moving blade and a fixed blade. The moving blade makes reciprocating movements under the drive of power, cutting the crop stalks like scissors. For example, when harvesting wheat, the cutter can cut the wheat stalks neatly close to the ground.
Conveying Device: It is mainly responsible for transporting the cut crops to the binding mechanism. It has various forms, some are conveyor belt type, and some are in the form of a reel combined with a conveyor chain. The reel will lift up the lodged or upright crops and guide them to the conveyor chain, and the conveyor chain will then transport the crops smoothly backward.
Binding Device: This is a crucial part of the binder. It includes a baling mechanism and a binding rope supply system. The baling mechanism compresses the crops into bales of a certain shape through a mechanical structure, and the binding rope supply system will timely wind the binding ropes around the bales and tie knots to complete the binding process. The common binding shapes are round and square to meet different storage and transportation requirements.
